iPhone rapid battery drain...genius bar appointment?

Had a jailbroken 8gig 3g running 3.1.3 for a few months now, usually get a day out the battery, more with light usage.

Not added anything new for a while, then suddenly the battery started dying a death. I played a quick game of poker on the train a few days back, battery was at 75% when I started, after a ten minute train journey it was down to 34% then proceeded to drop steadily (with no further phone use) till dead about an hour or so later. The phone was also super hot at the back.

Tried a restore, worked some, actually got almost a day with light usage. Restored a second time, took it off charge and within three hours it was at 73%, turned silent om, locked it and went to bed, got up and it was down to 27%.

I don't have bluetooth, wifi, 3g, push, location or anything on.

Googled a bit and it seems quite a common problem, so I assume I should make a genius bar appointment, are they likely to replace it? Or send it for repair? Can't really afford to be without a phone for very long. Also, if they replace it, will they give me an unlocked one? Mine is unlocked.

Thanks
Sigless

it sounds to me that there is a problem with the battery, at first i thought it would be down to the screen brightness and the wifi (my ipod touch kept dying and then i changed a few settings and it made the battery last 5x longer) but you said that all those settings are off.

if it is the battery surley its down to apple? and if you still have warranty they should replace it or at least fix it.

im sorry i couldnt help alot.

    Thanks for the reply.

It is still in warranty, it's only a few months old.
