Buying Insurnce to cover Landlords Fixtures and Fittings

I ought to be able to answer this, but never had the problem with my two BTL's
A friends daughter is going back to Uni next month and moving into rented with three other girls. She wants to go up early and pick the keys up, sort her stuff out etc. No problem here - however, the Agent has asked that their Contents Insurance covers the Landlords fixtures and fittings before she can pick the keys up! I've never heard of this before and wonder if any of you can shed some light on it? Surely all fixtures and fittings are covered in the Home owners policy?
Thanks

I dont think this is possible trev AFAIK
fixtures & fittings deductions should surely come out of the deposit, if they are not fair W&T:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I really worry at times about letting agents and I'm glad I haven't used one for years. There isn't an insurable connection between them and the Landlord's fixtures and fittings. The Landlord insures his fixtures and fittings and the tenant insures their property. I can't remember the legal terminology but there has to be a relationship beyond the tenancy agreement for either of these parties to be insuring the others property. All IMHO but if I've got it wrong I would like the legal explanation.mystic_trev wrote:.... the Agent has asked that their Contents Insurance covers the Landlords fixtures and fittings before she can pick the keys up!....A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.0
