Not quite sure what an " old person " drives like.?

My neighbour is 75+, an ex- police traffic driver and he drives at the appropriate speed for the road and traffic conditions.

You would be hard pressed to keep up with him.;)

Perhaps a wrong choice of words..maybe 'Sunday Driver' would be more appropriate! ;)

When I said driving for pleasure, I meant I would still drive at the proper road speeds. I didn't mean that I would snail along at 20mph on a NSL road.

Loads of nice countryside up here in Northumberland. 100 mile round trip up into the Scottish Boarders stopping off at places for a break etc. Now I just come home with high blood pressure. :(

My car has a program to record its data on fuel.

Since January 1st, I've done 6,083 miles, average of 47mpg (the winter weather has really hurt fuel consumption even though it's diesel!) and the cost of this is £684 (Average of 117.9p).

Drive for pleasure? Thats why the roads are worse than rushhour every sunday.

I read a post a while back someone takes their dog for a walk & does a 100 mile+ round trip in the car to take them somewhere different. Im sure the dog doesnt care where he walks. The poster also had a post where they were struggling with CC repayments.

Not sure if it was on here or another forum?

    Utter madness.

Hang on! I've spent my life trying to avoid telling the rest of the country how lovely Northumberland is and you go and tell them. I live here and certainly don't want 'day trippers' clogging up our roads. Besides it's always raining, the roads haven't been resurfaced since 1855, cows and others animals roam freely, the locals throw stones and anything else they can lay their hands on at 'foreign cars'. Pubs won't serve you, the police search you out, parking fines are double for non locals. Petrol is £2 a litre (tho' we still use gallons here) that's if they'll serve you! So....leave us to enjoy our serenity and isolation and we won't come down and sack your towns and cities.
