No Output to Monitor

I recently managed to fix my sisters PC. I'm fairly proud that I managed to take it from not being able to load windows, to me re-installing windows and getting it working.
However, out of the blue, I returned to the PC to find the windows screen saver had frozen. Nothing would work so I turned it off ad on again, now there is no output to the monitor, just blank screen?
Any ideas?
All my hard work seems to be in tatters!

Check power supply to the monitor, check that the monitor is actually working, check the graphics cable (use another PC to test the components on).
If all OK then I would suspect the graphics card-try reseating it.
Also look in Device Manager and see what is shown against video devices. No free lunch, and no free laptop
