i just spent £7 on a bottle:(

I've kept it for well over a year, after that it starts looking a little murky but is still fine IMHO. Of course I could just stop being lazy and take the vanilla pod strips out

If you don't use much then just make a smaller batch with less pods and vanilla. Definitely don't make a 700ml bottles worth at a time or you'll be using it forever. I guess we get through about a 200ml bottle in a year as you can be more generous with it when its so cheap and we like the taste so add it to more or less anything sweet we make.

Hubby & I have now decided that we'll be making 3 or 4 different flavoured vodkas in 100ml or so amounts as Christmas pressies. We just need to find some nice glass bottles now. Did find these but a bit pricey if we're going to be giving 4 away each time....

Grimbal, minty humbug sweeties worked well too

i dont drink which is a bit of a drawback:rotfl:
but every one i made them for loved it
the minty humbug one was nice as it has a toffee flavour with a minty undertone, and worked well in coffees

i made a hamper for a coffee lover, a cafetiere, an irish coffee cup, some nice coffees, fancy spoons, the minty humbug vodka & a bottle of the gingerbread coffee syrup (recipe from mse)

I like these bottles with black caps... Just 40p each plus postage.

I've used this company before for candleholders and they were really good to deal with

just to update all of you lovely contributors:
- the vanilla pods are here & I'll be making the vanilla extract this weekend.
- we'll also be carrying out a trial of toffee & skittle vodka in preparation for making christmas presents this year (along with the other flavours mentioned - we'll be getting some of those 100ml square bottles & pretty them up with ribbon etc).
- these vodkas will be taken along to a BBQ weekend after next, to which we'll also be bringing vodka jellies (lime, orange & strawberry) made in ice cube trays
