Windows7 permissions

I’m new to 7 and still learning it.
I’m fed up being asked for permission to move files to external disks, run ccleaner etc.
I am the only user and therefore I’m the Adminstrator, but I can’t change the settings in “User Account Control Settings”.
I’m stuck on the second setting from the top, “Default, Notify me only when programmes try to make changes to my computer”
I want to be notified when never before used programmes etc try to make changes but not when I run every day stuff like ccleaner or move files about.
How do I do this?
Thanks

Are you sure you are not secretly a footballer?
Your appalling English is typical of the average ill educated, knuckle dragging ball kicker.
Or maybe you are Scottish.

You should just turn off UAC, but if you "" want to be notified when never before used programmes etc try to make changes "" you can't turn off UAC

^^^Thanks but I have tried that.
As I wrote, I’m stuck on the second setting from the top, “Default, Notify me only when programmes try to make changes to my computer”.
It won't let me change that setting.0 -
Im not sure you can actually do what you want, there is no program whitelist which gets automatic elevation.
ccleaner needs evelation beacuse it seaches the registery, I dont know why your getting it for transfering to an external drive (I dont get it it with the same uac setting) you probably need to re-permission the drives windows security settings on every computer you use it on.
You can try to fiddle with the UACs main settings, if you type "Local Security Policy" in the start menu seach box, then goto local policies... secruity options, scroll down to the bottom to find the UAC options, dont mess with anything you dont understand.0 -

Odd
I switched mine off no problem
Sounds like a problem similar to what Vista has many times, in that you also need to select to 'RUN AS' (Admin):idea:0 -
Rik,
Done it on many hundreds / thousands maybe this is the first ever time I've encountered this error.
Avoriaz,
Is it possible to switch completely off all notification ? that's the slider all the way to the bottom ?
Has your fresh install of win7 been updated via MS updates ?
Are you the only account on the puter ?
BTW, mine is switched off - but a high % of vulnerabilities, maybe as high as 90% can be solved by removing administrator rights altogether !Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
