Renault Megane II brake squeal

My missus' car had new front discs and pads about 5/6 weeks ago but after a few days in the dryer weather they started squealing quite bad when pulling up to say a junction.
I called our local garage to get them checked to which they said they'd dismantled the whole front brakes and couldn't find any issue. I picked it back up this afternoon, all seemed fine until a couple of hours later when it started again, although not all the time when braking to a halt.
It's quite an embarrassing squeal and to be honest, I'm not a mechanic but new pads n discs should not be making any noise. Is it an inherent fault with Meganes like many other things on this car?

New pads and discs do actually make noises for quite some time until they're bedded in properly.0

the quality of brake lining can make a difference, were they aftermarket pattern parts or renault original??0

These common squeals can usually be cured by smearing a little 'coppaslip' on the backing surface of the pad where it contacts the piston and any other points that are starting to shine up from the high speed vibration causing the squeal...obviously avoiding getting any on the friction material or disc.0

Cheers for the replies, they were aftermarket jobbies I believe but trust me, they are an embarassment when stopping.
I'll have take it back to the garage again then.0 -
We always end up fitting genuine Renault discs and pads on Meganes and Scenics for this reason. Pattern ones just always seem to squeel for sonme reason...0

I had pattern pads and discs on my Almera and they made some awful noises for the first few weeks. Truely hateful things (were awful from a cold start too)0

:rotfl: - as far as A to B motoring goes it was fantastic, although the old bloke that owned it before me had kept it garaged for long periods of time without use which had created it's own problems.
Bit noisy and unrefined but comfortable and economical.0 -
Just ignore it, all been replaced, and will settle/quiet down eventually. Been there.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
