    Mmmm, perhaps im getting confused ( which isnt hard for me lol ) I just thought you had to have 30 years of paying NI contributions, and as partner has already paid 45 years, he wouldnt have to pay anymore as he has paid over the 30 years already :o

    It does not work like that, you still carry on paying NI until retirement age.

    If you don't want to work, you have to work to earn enough money so that you won't have to work ;)

    Some people reading this will have to pay NI until they're 68 - and not be able to get a pension till then either.

    Not me I hasten to add - I'm a little past late youth myself.

    Me too Exil, i got my pension, well 60% on my OHs contributions last year but the up side was that as a female at 60 i stopped paying NI.

    I still work part time so am still paying tax at 20% on all my earnings.
    make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
    and we will never, ever return.
