Are you seriously saying that if i give theinsurance company the option of :
A) paying the solicitors fee's accumulated between Friday when i telephone him and Monday when i tell him his services are no longer required , during which time the bill will consist of ONE LETTER WHICH HE HAS SENT TO US TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF
OR....paying for the fee's for a solicitor to defend the ENTIRE claim which will probably result in us getting several hundred pounds more ontop of the offer they have already made to us PLUS a few grand to represent us from start to finish....
God.....if i were the insurance company i would know for SURE whcih option i would be going for !
But , we will see , i am ringing them tomorrow.
The people you speak to at the insurance companies aren't rational human beings, they are employees and they have rules about what they can and can not do. If their rules say they can't offer you any more money than their current offer then they won't, even if it would save them money in the long term.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

Why?????
Where in my post did you read that we want a BIGGER offer ??
If you re-read you will see that we are happy to accept the amount they have offered to us !0 -
Yes but by paying out to the solicitor for work he hasn't done it would be a bigger cost to them than the offer they have made you. I don't think they will pay out for the solicitor at all if you accept their offer directly without him. Even if they say they will on the phone can you be sure they will actually do it and he won't end up chasing you for money?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Ok...an update
So..today i telephoned the insurance company on behalf of my husband and whereas they have been more than happy to discuss matters with me up to this point , today they refuse to even talk to me !
I understand they have the right to do this as i am only a named driver on the policy and it was my husband NOT me who was involved in the accident , but in saying that the girl i spoke to was the cheekiest , jumped up jobsworth i have EVER encountered !
I ring my husband and ask him to come home so that we can ring the company again to see whats going on and when my husband rings back he is told that the person he needs to speak to has just went into a meeting and he will get a call back from her in 10/15mins.
After 20 mins , as my husband has to return to work (taxi driver with fares waiting) he rings the company again and the (direct dial) phone is picked up straight away . Now , the girl i spoke to firstly had the most annoying squeaky , recognisable voice EVER so i would recognise it anywhere(lol) . This same girl answered the phone to my husband and hade a totally hissy fit at my husband because the company had said that THEY would ring HIM back and not the other way around ! This same girl then went on to say that she wasnt the same person i had spoken to previously (even though it was) and then told my husband that a solicitor had been in touch.....she also stated that the offer made to my husband "un-officially" was made incorrectly and infact the offer they were making at this point was £900 LESS !!!
My husband at this point said "ok , just hold on a second to i speak to my wife" to which the girl replied "Mr ***** i already told your wife this morning that i cant discuss matters with her !
Ok......thought this girl said that she WASNT the same person i had spoken to a half hour before ?
So......i had to speak to my husband and get him to pass on to her exactly what i wanted to know which was - if any solicitor fee's had been accumilated between me instructing the solicitor and today WHO would be paying them ?
The girl at this point said very rudely "who do you think would be paying them Mr ***** YOU WOULD !
At this point , my husband said "ok then , for two reasons i am going to decline your offer and allow and allow the solicitor to continue persuing the case" reason 1) The offer is way too low considering the pain and suffering i have incurred , including the reoccurance of a pre-existing medical condition which the accident has caused to reappear and TWO - YOUR ATTITUDE IS APPALLING !
So to whoever said on this thread yesterday that the people dealing with this would not be human.....you were spot on there !!!!
Looks like its in the hands of the solicitor now .
