Help needed please cant get wii fii on laptop

I hope someone can help me here, we are in Florida at the minute and have brought our laptop with us which has been working ok up till last night, when the connection has gone, there is an icon in the bottom corner saying no connection available. the wii fii button on the laptop is flashing blue and I am sure it should be yellow/orange, the desktop pc in the house internet connection is fine but we really need to get the laptop back on. I am not too good on technical issues, its an acer aspire 5738z

anyone pleasem, i have tried everything I can think of to try and get the laptop connected to the interenet. the desktop pc is working fine and has a strong connection and we have not had a problem at all for the past week the laptop has picked up great, just last night it went off and i just cant reconnect. it has a red cross going through the internet icon on the bottom of the screen saying no internet connections available!!! Also the internet light is flashing blue when I am sure it should be orange, would really appreciate some help on this, thanks

hubby pressed something but has no idea what he pressed, it kept freezing and he got impatient and started to press all sorts of stuff. I have switched the internet connection button on but like i say its blue when I am almost sure it should be orange
