Use of search engine- problem with google

I do hope that all you techie people will be able to help me- think someone who can turn the computer on and expects it to do what I ask!!!

Whenever we do a search through google I get the list of possible sites, but when I click on the link we get another search or another list but not the requested site.

Now google is also popping up between pages on a web site- so if I am on a web site and click the link within this page, google appears.

I have tried Flipo- a previous suggestion- but it has not worked and the situation is getting worse.:(

Can I uninstall google and then reinstall?

We have Norton and WindowsXP(?)

Any suggestions would be appreciated- and kept simple!!!

Many thanks

    Google redirect?

Download the latest version of Malwarebytes from filehippo.com

Once downloaded open Malwarebytes and UPDATE it first before running a full scan.

When scanning has finished let Malwarebytes delete any nasties it finds and then post the log file (copy & paste) in your next message.

Id be looking at infections first

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

    Hi Joanne,

Download and Run Mbr.exe from Gmer (can't post the link)
    • download and save it on your desktop.
    • Go to Start >> Run then copy and paste the following line into the run box
      "%userprofile%\desktop\mbr.exe" -t
    • Select Run when you recieve a Security Warning
    • The process is automatic, a black DOS window will appear and disappear suddenly. This is normal.
    • A log file will the be created on your desktop where you ran mbr.exe from.
    • Copy and paste the contents of mbr.log on your next reply.

    Hi Joanne

The log file you supplied for Malwarebytes in your post #4 states Scan type: Quick scan

You really need to do a full scan and post the log file.

Here are the results of the full scan. I know when this had been completed a number of trojan horse viruses had to be isolated and removed.

Also, I have downloaded GMEr onto my desktop but when I press run there is not the option to post the suggested link, it just runs.

    It could well be me!!!!
