Problems with booting my computer– help!

ok, I've downloaded superantispyware and done a scan- and the computer has just booted normally for the first time in a week, so thanks for that first off :cool:

I think there's still some kind of background infection that is causing 'problems and solutions' to stop working. Should I try downloading the anti-malware and hijack_this programs again, getting a scan done and posting the log here?

oh, and uninstall avg first?

Youd be advised to UPDATE and run a FULL scan with malwarebytes first
Then the hijack

Not sure why Browntoa asked you to remove AVG (id ask you to remove it cos its cr*p, but thats for another day). So id recommend leaving it alone for now

was for the random crashing but quickly came to the conclusion that there was a malware infection

Cheers, really appreciate all the help from everyone.

I couldn’t get that ( http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...010/FixExe.reg ) to install either, so I rebooted, and found that I had to do another system restore to get the computer to boot up fully again, so clearly that problem hasn’t been eradicated. On the plus side, I’ve managed to install malwarebytes now, and I’m doing a full system scan. I’ll post up the logfile when it’s done.
