fit finder banned

not sure if you've kept abreast of recent news but a website (fit finder) set up by a student at UCL got banned, and he was fined, as it was cited as a distraction to students.
The funny thing is his site got 5 million hits in one month...Are UCL utterly stupid?
The nature of the site wasn't pornographic (risqu! at best) and they still chose to ban it.
It could have easily joined the ranks of twitter, or perhaps foursquare.
Anyway in the backlash someone aggregated all UCL distractions in one place http://www.ucldistraction.com/
You would think a uni would support a entrepreneurial student!
