slight problem with my htc desire

Got my desire on Thursday night. Loving it so far, but it's gotten very laggy whenever I return to the home screen. when I try to return, firstly the white screen with green "htc" comes up, then it goes to a dimmed down home screen, with the spinning loading icon for a good few seconds, before finally getting to the home screen. This gets really frustrating after a while.
Thing is, the phone didn't do this when I began using it, so it must be something I've done. No idea what though. Any help appreciated

I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!

Not heard of that one before.
Have you rebooted it?
I'd guess that one of the apps you've installed is causing it. You could try uninstalling them and then installing them one by one until you find the culprit.
if you *#*#4636#*#* on the phone it will give you lots of info about the phone including what has been using the CPU. that may give you some clues.
It may also be worth posting the question on the Desire section of the Android Forum.

I agree, its probably a rouge app. Try downloading something an app like taskiller and shut down the apps you dont need to see it that improves the situation.0

do you need taskiller? there's a widget for managing applications which seems to let you force anything shut and control what starts up etc.
though I just got my Desire an hour ago

I find Advanced Task Killer to be useful. Always amazed to see how many things are running.0

I dont know what apps come pre-installed on the Desire so taskiller may not be needed if there is a similar app already loaded.0 -
Haven't been online since. Thanks, turned out it was something I had tweaked wrongly in the spare parts app.
Another slight problem now, my sd card is getting damaged every time I turn the phone off and on or unmount it from a computerI'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0
