Direct Debit not showing on account

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can advise.. A direct debit was supposed to go out of my bank account on the 3rd of June. Not seen in on my account but it is credited to the account who asked for the amount. Does it not show on the account the same day?
I am in my overdraft but would not exceed it with the direct debit and I have money coming in next week..

Can anyone help?

Some companies will credit you account on the day they ask for the direct debit, before they know that the transaction has been successful. The last time this happened to me the company had screwed up creating the direct debit.

Do you know how long I will have to wait to see if it has been refused? Don't know why it will have been when I am no where near exceeding my overdraft...Oh I hate banking matters lol

If you have internet access to your bank can you not see if a D/D has been set up?
I know my bank shows the last time it was claimed and for how much for when accessing the payments list.

Wait until Monday and see if your Halifax account is showing a debit.
If not phone ASDA card services to confirm whether the card has actually been credited.

Orange are my ISP and they create a monthly statement on the 13th of each month. At the same time they credit the account with the monthly payment - but do not take it via DD until the 27th of the month!

That is fairly extreme ....... but it's not unusual to see a credit being made (HMRC do it for regular payment cases) to the account at the same time the DD is requested. And the DD then takes 3 working days to complete.

I'm with orange on a converged service and they do the same, but look carefully and the DD entry will be for last month.

Some credit card companies use the assumption that you payment will clear and show it the same day as the debit, if if fails they reverse it a few days later.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

No - it's the DD not, at that point, initiated for the coming month.

I have looked very carefully - not that it makes much difference, as the posting date of the payment is always around the 13th when the Statement is prepared. And bears no relationship to the DD due date (25th) nor the date it normally hits my account (circa 27th).

But I had to dissect it when Halifax managed to close my current account in mistake for the Exor account I had been in Branch to close. I caught it before it was fully closed - but not before they'd bounced the DD from Orange. For 2 weeks, and 4 emails and 4 phone calls, Orange insisted it was paid on the previous 13th ....... until the 'dishonoured' statement caught up and they started sending snotty emails. Took 2 months to sort it ......... but they positively anticipate the DD being paid when preparing the statement
