Dont know if this is what you want or not. My hubby has a laptop and he just wanted to be able to use it at airports and suchlike so I just installed a wi-fi card for him and when he's at the airport or something he can then hook up. At the airport i think he has to play but all over the place now there are wi'fi hotspots at cafes and suchlike where you can use the laptop to access. Is this the type of thing you mean?0

If you're signing up to Broadband, you need some kind of contract. You can however get rolling 1 month contracts with some ISP's. Check this link for a list.
As for accessing the Internet out and about, I assume your laptop is wireless enabled. You need to find places with a wireless hotspot, some places allow you to access for free, but most you will need to buy airtime through someone like BT OpenZone.0 -
