Stress, SSP and working P/T hours

Hello - New to this so forgive lack of style! I work part time and have been off with work related stress for a while. I want to get back into working, and my doc is prepared to enter on 'fit' note that I would be suited to work at an alternative job on the days I don't already work for my main employer.
If I do this, am I allowed? Direct Gov site says I am getting SSP for only the days I work with my current employer. So if I worked on my days off doing something appropriate, this should be OK?? Thanks for any help :rotfl:

As I see it, the only problem would be if the work being done for a different employer was directly comparable with that contracted for the current employer - including the work-related stress component.0 -
my contract states that if i am off sick i cannot take paid employment elsewhere -check your contract op.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

No doubt that predates the introduction of fit notes.my contract states that if i am off sick i cannot take paid employment elsewhere -check your contract op.
Someone could be not fit to do their regular work but OK for something else.
The OP is part-time with current employer from which he/she is on sick leave.0 -
Can a GP issue a fit note and a sick note at the same time?0

as i said before check your contract op ,theres nothing here to suggest the op has just started working so contract may very well pre date fit notes .just had a quick look at nhs site fit notes are intended to get people back to work they are nt intended as a way of claiming ssp and working elsewhere. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Indeed this was the caase back in 2007, when I had major mobility probs and couldnt get to my job 2 tubes and a walk, but I wanted to volunteer at a charity literally around the corner. My gp suggested it was a good idea, my trade union said no.
However,if the stress is something caused by teaching, im sure your gp is right, undertaking something else ( eg shop work) might not be stressful for you at all and might improve your emotional health. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

The fit note outlines the duties that the patient might be "fit for" however my GP is resistant to these as it can be used to take the place of occupational health and should anything go wrong ( ie a further injury is caused)then the NHS can be sued.
Another shunted in bit of legislation I fear we'll be stuck with. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
