Extended Warranty auto renewal notification?

I took a 1 year extended warranty on my washing machine after the initial extended warranty expired after 5 years. I knew it required a new rubber seal and the programme sometimes skipped the rinse and that it would require brushes at some point as they'd never packed in in 5 years so the £35 for another year was a good deal. My plan was to get those fixed which I did then not bother with any more extended years and just get a new machine at the next major breakdown.
However, today I received a letter from Mastercare thanking me for renewing, it must have been done automatically but I had not been informed recently that this was going to happen. It might have been part of the agreement at the time last year but should they not have informed me first and given me the option of not renewing?
BTW, a washing machine is the only thing I ever take an extended warranty on and I haggle the warranty price down, ours is used at least twice a day every day in life and after 30 odd years experience of using them I know what is and isn't worthwhile and for me the washing machine warranty definitely is

If you agreed last year that it would happen this year, isn't that enough?0 -

Okay, I'm confused.
You agreed to an auto-renewal, you want the warranty, and you know it's good value. So, you've got exactly what you want, and exactly what you agreed to.
Is this a praise or a vent?0 -
.. but then again it might not.. which is why I asked this next very simple questionIt MIGHT have been part of the agreement at the time last yearshould they not have informed me first and given me the option of not renewing?
Anyway I have contacted them and they said I should have received 3 reminders, one in each of the last 3 months but they have no idea why they were never sent.
Some people just can't refrain from being a smart !!! without having read the post properly0 -

it was good value last year at £35 because the machine was in need of repair.. this year at £46 and nothing wrong with it, it isn't

OK, I use the local man to sort my washing machine out. 2 calls in 8 years, total cost £45 for brushes and £35 for filter blockage.
Average cost £10 per year.
Still want Curixon to steal money from you every year?

That's mad, you are asking ME if I want Cruxion to steal my money yet you have been robbed by your 'local man'! You could have saved yourself a bit cash and fitted the brushes yourself, they are only about £7 and as easy to fit as fitting a fuse in a plug and the filter you could have unblocked too!
Unfortunately my washing machine isn't for ornamental purposes and actually gets used at least twice every day - it's on its 4th load today - and in the 6 years I've had this one I've had a new motor (best part of £100), 2 new rubber seals, a new curcuit board thing for the programme (how much are they?), a new stabiliser and a set of brushes so my original £69 outlay plus last year's £35 = £104. My 'local man' charges £40 for a call out so I would have been well out of pocket on parts and labour without the warranty.
As I say, a washing machine is the only item I take an extended warranty out on because over 30 years experience tells me it pays ME to do so. I wouldn't do it otherwise would I?
Whether anyone else wants an extended warranty or not is up to them but I certainly don't need lectured on what is best for me0 -
So anyone who disagrees with (aka lectures) you gets abuse.
How strange.0 -

Oh dear, not another self riotous poster who feigns into a stomp when anyone disagrees with them. Carry on paying yer £40 a year mate, I know mine will fail again in about another 4 years, brushes for the motor. Cost will be about £45, and a cup of tea.
By then you would have wasted £160. It is a money saving site, not a stomping wasting site.0
