Hey all,

Swinton are offering Full Uk breakdown cover/relay, roadside assistance and home start for £45 (if you use Quidco then you get 20% taking it down to only £36!)

They even offer you a guarantee of giving you £10 if they don't get to you within the hour!

This has got to be too good to be true surely?! Has anyone else has used them...?

  • Not used them, but kicking myself for taking out the same cover with Tesco Breakdown a couple of weeks ago at £63!

I don't think they are making much on the product, it's possible that they just want you on board to quote other products. Here's a bit from their FAQs:

"We will send you your policy documents through the post and one of your local Swinton branches will contact you to welcome you as a customer. We will send you your policy documents through the post and one of your local Swinton branches will contact you to welcome you as a customer. "

Still a great price though, cover looks to be provided by AXA Assistance, go for it.

Hey matey, I signed up with Swinton Breakdown last Nov. However, since the car is over 10 years old I had to pay about £80. Not bad considering AA & RAC charge alot more for the same service. I have to say though, I broke down in December at Centre Parcs, Elveden. My car wouldn't start so I phoned them. I managed to get my car started with jump leads after waiting for 45 minutes. I phoned them to cancel the callout but they wouldn't let. Wait for 1 hour still no came (I would of asked if i sounded ok to drive). I drove home no call from breakdown company. I then wrote a letter to them to reclaim my callout or for the £10. I had my callout back so success. Haven't yet broken down but I think I would re-new next November because it's cheap and I would give them another chance.
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
