Hi All
I was wondering if anyone can help me, networking is unfortunately alien to me so a step by step guide would be great if it is possible.
My set-up etc.
I live in a bungalow and we have 2 master sockets in the house (from the BT junction box, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, you cannot get any further away, anyway i have the Sky router (Sagem F@st 2504 Sky V3.1) by the TV in the living room next to my xbox so it can be hard wired, everything is fine in this area of the house but as soon as i go in to bedroom one (closest to the living room) i cannot get a wireless signal so my kids and i cannot access the internet down that side of the house.
Now i do have a spare Sky wireless Router (Netgear DG934G-1SKUKS) i was wondering is there any way to either connect this to the other phone socket in the bedroom or use it to extend the wireless signal?
Any help would be appreciated because its rather irritating and i cannot spend any money investing on new or additional kit.
Thanks in advance
Chris

You can only have 1 ADSL device active on phone line, so this will be no good to you unless you plug the router you want and unplug the one you don't want just before you start your computer.
Not sure about this, but if you buy an ethernet cable to go between the 2 routers and configure them appropriately, you may get what you are looking for.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. You could try a DIY signal booster - http://www.binarywolf.com/249/diy-parabolic-reflector.htm0 -
Hi there
As others have said, you can only have 1 router connected to the telephone line. The reason is that your router has 2 parts to it:
1. Modem - to communicate with the internet
2. Router - to send and receive signals to/from your pc/xbox etc.
You can only use 1 modem on 1 phone line, so when you connect the 2 devices to the telephone, they cause a conflict.
What you need to do is convert one of the routers into what is known as an "Access Point". Someone else will have to explain how to do this but essentially what it means is that you turn off the modem in one of the routers and connect it wirelessly to the other router so that it acts as a signal booster.
Have a look at this:

EASY SOLUTIONS
As a free test I would move the wireless box you have next to the TV, hopefully get it closer to the bedroom. I would try and get it out of any alcoves in the room as the brick walls dont help with the signals.
I understand that the xbox is pluged into it but for a test it cant hurt, if you find a spot where it works in the room you can easily route a short network cable to the xbox at the TV.
Question: is there other wireless access points around you? I ask this as the wireless channels can get conjested with many access points and in turn give poor signals. simply changing wireless channel can greatly boost this.
The solution you are thinking of doing will not work, wireless access points cannot talk to one another. with the solution in post number two that is possible but with the default setting you will run into trouble with the likes of IPv4, DHCP(if there is one),DNS, broadcast and discovery.
OTHER OPTION
Almost like post number two the cheap way of adding more coverage is to get a second access point(not a router or switch)

It has to be stressed that they might look like routers but there not, the intention of these devices is to put a network cable from your router to one of the top devices and place the device at the oppersite end of the house having a second point of entry to your network.
All else fails I would look into mains (power sockets) networking and having a short cable to the device needing the access, I know not practical. next one would be to have a really long cable from the router to the room with the device in. also not practical but will get the job done. if you go with the really long cable the length has to be below 100m before needing a repear/booster.
Alot of information there but I have tried to cover most solutions and possible roads to take.
