energyhelpline.com - why are my results like this?
Options
Just did a check on erergyhelpline.com to see if I still have the cheapest gas and electric provider.
I use EDF (was SWEB) for both gas and electric and the search result said my savings would be £-73, i.e. a loss if I switch to Atlantic Electric & Gas, the next best to what I have.
So I must be on the cheapest already, yes?
Just as an idea I changed my provide to npower to check it would come back to me with EDF as the cheapest, but it didnt, still said Atlantic Electric & Gas.
Anyone know why it gives results like this, all I can imagine is they are on commission for selling Atlantic Electric & Gas.
Or is all this common knowledge and you should take these results with a pinch of salt?

If you look at the 'stickys' threads(at the top of the page) you will find much comment on the strange results from the various comparison websites.
Bear in mind that their purpose is to get commision when you changing suppliers.0 -
Yes, understood.
I think Martin should comment in the news letter that the only real way to compare is to call each provide and check theie kwh rates.0 -
Did you input your annual Kwh useage? that is the only way to get accurate results., also there are bugs regarding DD discounts.0

I'm on EDF Online tariff which is the cheapest if I do a comparison too. However the only tariff available on Energyhelpline now from EDF is their standard tariff - the online tariff seems to have disappeared. Therefore if I did a search like you, EDF would not come up as the cheapest as EDF's standard tariff isn't that cheap.0
