Hi i have only really started gardening in the last couple of years. I am still learning and need some help please. Last year i planted bedding flowers. This year i have been trying to buy flowers that will last for a few years.
I planted some primulas in about march/april time and they looked very nice, now they seem to be losing their petals. Is this normal or am i doing something wrong. They look like this http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.auriculas.org.uk/pictures/Primula_Polyanthus.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.auriculas.org.uk/primula_polyanthus.htm&usg=__4L1SipsZtinqlJ2IUJ55WoA3bxQ=&h=449&w=527&sz=87&hl=en&start=1&itbs=1&tbnid=Nwij6_D_pa_AsM:&tbnh=112&tbnw=132&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dprimulas%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26rlz%3D1T4SMSN_en___GB342%26tbs%3Disch:1%26prmd%3Di
Also i planted another couple of plants one with white flowers and one with a pink flowers. (I can't remember what these are called) they too have lost their petals. I deadheaded the plant with white flowers and it looks like one of the stems has a bud on it, like its going to flower again. Also another plant with a pink flower looks like the petals are dying. I also some violets, and these have kept their petals.
I would like to buy some plants that will flower every year and look nice in pots. So i don't have to keep buying plants. What plants will flower throughout the summer that will grow back.

with the plants you have cut off any flowers that look 'past their best' ... but they are both 'spring' flowers so are probably over as far as flowering goes...
Things like pansies & roses are better for all year round colour .. I'm no expert so I guess one will be along soon to give more adviceI THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
Primulas will flower again next year, dont ditch them. Just add some colourful bedding to fill in the gaps. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'
