I'm joining in this month too! Had a fair attempt at menu planning for most of last month and then went and ordered my shopping online with asda (finding a money off code first of course - even more money saving!) and August grocery spend came in at £209.60! I'm very proud of myself considering that in July we spent £373.39 on the same two adults, two children 3 and 6 and our dog!
Freezers are fairly full again after I let OH loose in the Jack Fultons (a discount frozen food store) so will get menu planning again and aim for a figure of £200 for this 5 week month!
Only problem I found last month with this was because I am cooking healthier and 'real' food, tea seems to take twice as long to make. Has anybody else found this and does it get quicker with practice?

Well I think I ought to give this another try as with the summer holidays (time off work, not exotic trip :rotfl: ) our food bill crept back up to over £200 for us. There are only 2 of us at home but we have had house guests for the last 6 weeks so I'll put it down to that
So, we are in it from Friday 1/9 which will be the ASDA shopping day or Tesco delivery day for £40 per week = £160 for September.
I appreciate that is still a lot for 2 adults but small steps until we are back in the habit
Good luck everyone!Leason learnt :beer:0 -

I am going to join in as well - my food etc bills fluctuate wildly but I'd be happy to spend £350 in September. This is for 3 adults plus assorted visitors we are expecting (or not expecting thanks to dd and ds). Also ds will be going back to uni and i always stock him up before he goes.
Getting my excuses in first.:o0 -
I want to join in too. I think I spend about £250 for 2 adults for food, toiletries and cleaning products - I know it's a lot but OH likes his luxury items while I'm not fussy n would have most stuff from Aldis. This month I am therefore going to try for £200. I know it's a lot compared to what you experienced savers spend but it's a start eh?:D
Unfortunately rather than shopping around i've got to stick to Tesco.com at mo as had an accident last weekend and can't drive anywhere or walk very far. Oh well!
So far have spent £43.01 for September groceries as got paid 22nd Aug which is when I'm starting my month from.
Wish me luck:beer:Official DFW Nerd - Member 408 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -

Can anyone advise me where to start as this is one of our biggest prob's. Groceries cost us around £400quid pm. Is there a thread I am missing with meal ideas recipes etc for cost cutting as even when I try to cut down we dont save much.
I hoping for £160 food and toiletries etc for 2 adults 1 toddler
and
£80 for baby nappies, wipes, jars babyfood and all the other paraphanalia for 9 month old.
S0 £60 pw for all this. Is this realistic???Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
£11,860.00 needed = £1,106 in savings

Ditch the jars of baby food straight away. Home cooked is much better for babies and toddlers and you can always freeze portions of your homemade meals so that you always have something suitable on hand.:rudolf: Always skip and eat your peas :rudolf:0
