My advise is to have a browse on somewhere like Amazon.co.uk. Have a look at some of the cameras around that price range and read some of the reviews. Amazon are usually well priced but worth having a quick search elsewhere once you see a camera you like. With cameras you really do get a better camera the more you spend. Also remember that its not all in the megapixels! You can have a camera with 12 megapixels but if the sensor size is small then the picture won't necessarily be great. A 8 megapixel camera with a really good sensor may well be better then a 12 megapixel camera with a really poor sensor.

Quite a lot of people think that the more pixels they get the better the camera but this is only the case if you are printing out very very large pictures. For the standard 6x4" 7x5" 8x6" etc etc you don't really need loads of Pixels.

Sanyo are not renown for making good cameras. I'm not even sure they make cameras (except camcorders) so like Hitachi might be selling their name to put on very cheap basic models. There's not too many 8 megapixel cameras around these days but 10 megapixels would be fine and you can get some decent bargains at times. Recently the Panasonic Lumix FS7 has been in your budget, though not at present. If you can't wait there are some Fujifilm cameras with rechargeable battery at that price.

Alternatively you can get something like a Canon Powershot A480 and some rechargeable AA batteries.
