Need a new cooker - Best Protection Advice

Am looking at purchasing a new Gas cooker for approx. £499, the issue we have is how the best way is to pay in respect of payment protection should anything go wrong.
Alas credit card limit is only £200 so thats out, can pay via Visa Debit card no problem, or even cash should we choose to purchase from Curry's.
Thing is, have found a website elecrical123.com where we could save over £100 plus with free delivery however as far as l'm aware paying by Debit card does not give you the same protection.
Can anyone please tell me if l paid say £100 by credit card and the rest via Debit Card would this then mean we would be protected for the entire purchase via the credit card company.
Your thoughts and opinions most welcome.
(option of using someone elses card and giving them the cash is not available)
