Help connecting to new sky broadband router please?

Son and g/f have just had their new broadband connection go live today. Son's laptop found the new wireless network immediately and connected no bother but g/f's wont connect.

It sees the network but wont connect to it after putting in the security key. It throws up a 'Windows cannot connect' error message.

Her laptop is running Vista basic and I have Win 7 and XP so can't think what steps to tell them to try. (Doing all this over the phone so not the easiest process.)

Incidentally, it wont connect even if using a wired connection.

Any suggestions?

Often laptops turn off their Network ports when on battery power, it worth checking that the ethernet port on the laptop is enabled.
The only other thing would be that the WPA passcode is case sensitive, but that would not explain the wired problem.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
