can anyone recommend an adaptor that'll allow me to use my cordless USB mouse from a PS2 port?
I've had those little green adaptors in the past & they never, ever, work
aoplogies if this has been asked before
but the terms are too short to get any results from a forum search

Can I ask why you need to do that.
If it is to free up a USB port, it may be worthwhile just buying a USB PCI card for a few pound rather than mess on trying to find an adapter.0 -
Or a USB hub if you don't fancy opening up your PC or don't have any spare PCI slots.0

Its probably so it can be used on older computers that dont have USB.
Perhaps try something like this

I recently got a KVM switcher so I only have to use 1 keyboard, 1 monitor & 1 mouse between the systems. I'm really pleased with it & it works really well, but, it only has a PS2 connector for the mouse & I'd like to be able to use my cordless USB one with it0 -

Going off at a tangent, have you tried XP's compatabilty mode? Right click on the shortcut to the program, choose Properties, and click on the Compatibity tab. This makes the program think it's running on a Windows 98 computer.
I haven't needed to use it myself so don't know how well it works.0 -

some of them are so old that '98 struggles with them! oh the joys of trying to get a DOS game to work. I'm a glutton for punishment :rolleyes:0 -

Given the cost of a mouse, just go and buy a PS2 mouse or one with the required adaptor. You'll end up spending more on an adaptor!0 -
I also use a kvm switch and have done for a few years now. I just use a usb to ps2 adaptor that came with the mouse for key and mouse.
I never had any problems with those adaptors I have had a few mouses since getting a kvm switch and none have let me down, I do normally go for a ms mouse though. I am using a wireless MS optical mouse at mo.
I got a Tesco's cheapo mouse the other day for a fiver that also came with the adaptor that my daughter uses on her pc.0 -

I've always used Microsoft mouses (mice?) & the little green adaptors that came with the USB ones never worked, so I ended up binning them
the one I have now is a Microsoft wireless optical, but it didn't come with a PS2 adaptor
I'll have to dig through my box of pc bits & bobs & see if there's one lurking there that didn't get chucked, & give it another try0
