honeysuckle

i have two honeysuckle plants in the garden they both started off growing quite well now they are dying does anyone have any ideas what might of happened both in a sunny position and watered

    Has it got mildew? (Yellow leaves turning grey-brown with powdery stuff).

    If so, just cut it right back almost to soil level where there is some decent uninfected stem. Pick up all the leaves and cuttings and bin them.

    The other thing is that you've planted it in a sunny spot. How sunny? Honeysuckle is a woodland plant that grows best in cool shade - so it may be cooking in its present site. If so, it needs lifting and replanting into shade. Or you could give it some sort of cover for the time being (a garden chair, pot or anything that will cast a shadow over it.

    Since it's a young plant I wouldn't cut it down AND move it this year. It's very drastic emergency treatment and will take a few weeks for the honeysuckle to recover. I'd just do one thing for the time being.

    Horse manure might perk them up. Stick a load of that down and water in every night.

    I have just bought Lonicera Halliana the label says plant in full sun,will tolerate light shade, but you said shady before i plant it thought i`d check where best it should go ? Thanks
