Morning all, hope everyone is ok.

I have today woken up to the reality that is BR and allowances....

We are allowed £40 a month towards car repairs, so £480 a year right? Well that would be fine but my car is going to cost £754 to get it through the mot :( , oh and the garage have just callled and the turbo has gone as well, they can get one for under £1000, ok....

It was sooo easy when we could slap the Egg card on the counter and say get on and do it then, now I am sitting with a spreadsheet open fiddling with our SOA to try and work out how to get the money together!! Looks like it will be beans on toast for a while lol!!

£40 a month isn't really a great deal is it? especially when you consider that you are usually only allowed to keep older/cheap value cars, which are more likely to have something major go aren't they?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry right now, but instead will walk into town to get some milk, should do me good I guess :D

A nightmare, infact it's my worst nightmare the car going that we can't afford. Predicting how much you will need to save for car repairs is so difficult. We had to pay £800 years ago on a reletively new car to have the steering column fixed, that has stayed with me and sends chills down my spine.

I hope you can scrape it together D, I agree the safety net of the credit card is a miss in times of trouble.
