Repair cost ?

Hi , can i just ask for some opinions on how much i should be paying for some work which a mechanic is going to do to my car on monday.

Car is a renault megane , 1999 , petrol 1.4

The problems are : Abs sensor on rear drivers side has failed - the only place the mechanic could locate the needed sensor is at the renault dealer - priced at £55 + vat.

Also , the strut on the front drivers side has gone , the mechanic has bought a replacement one from a reputable breaker - (unsure of the cost.)

The mechanic also put the car on the machine to locate the fault when i first took the car to him yesterday.

So , if a car was left in to any of you mechanics with knowledge and you had to do the above work , JUST ROUGHLY what would the bill be.

Please note , i have used this mechanic before and i have to say he is honest and quite easy to pay.....just wana be prepared for mondays bill lol.

So........£65 for sensor
?? (?) for strutt
£25 (?) for diagnostic
?? for labour.


Any suggestions ?

Two hours labour at whatever rate they charge plus cost of parts.

Hiya Hammyman and thanks for the response.

Not sure how much his hourly rate is though im guessing it will be pretty reasonable. He did some work on my husbands taxi few weeks ago (ball joints) and he charged him £40 , that took a few hours if i remember correctly.
