P45 and last pay slip

Hubby voluntary redundant from today. Has had last pay and now has pay slip for redundancy and P45 arrived today however these do not match and it appears that the P45 only gives his earned income but has omitted taxable redundancy and tax paid (tax code on redundancy pay is BR MTH1 although taxable and non-taxable is clearly set out)
is this normal or should he go back to HR and ask for a corrected one? (just concerned that his tax paid to date for this year is now £2.5k short on the P45 and he may at some stage be entitled to some back)
