18 year needs advice on saving accounts.

Hi,
i have recently left sixth form and have £1000 pounds that i want to lock away for a year. I was wondering weather the NS&I Index-linked Savings account at 6.8% is the best option or would a fixed rate bond be better.
thanks.

There is no account that pays 6.80%. You have unfortunately misunderstood the NS&I Index Linking.

Basically if you had bought the Index Link Savings this time last year, you could be getting the 6.80% rate now.

The Index Link Certificates are also in 3 year and 5 year issues. You do not get the full return if you cash them in early.
