Ryanair increases baggage charge to £80 for summer

Isn't Ryanair's cheeky chappie actually pandering the the MSE mindset that enjoys the time taken to snaffle a bargain on t'interweb. A man who knows the value of his own time will have an Amex Black Card and use the concierge service to book airlines tickets.0

- baggage charges
- booking fees
- fee for booking on a Thursday when the moon is in its third quarter
- time and cost of getting to somewhere annoying like Stansted or Luton
- time and cost of getting to your hotel from some of the random satellite airports they fly you into
you may as well book with a proper airline, where it won't be a screaming bunfight free-for-all when boarding.
Strange - I just flew from Ireland to the South of France for £15 all in with Ryanair, just like any other airline except it was on time. Flew to the nearest airport to my house from Cork's International airport.
Maybe it was not the same airline as you are talking about. My only
complaint is that it only cost me £12 last year.0 -

It's really annoying, actually, as one day I would like to follow Martin's advice on how to jump through all O'Leary's hoops and genuinely get a flight for silly money like £5. Purely for the satisfaction of knowing that pr*ck is making a loss on me.
Good news for you then as they fly from Gatwick also0 -

Many of us do and have! The Flights forum often have similar 'spats' to those on this Forum. Instead of Bulls and Bears, it's those saying Ryanair Ripoff and those saying it isn't!
I've travelled using Ryanair since 1987,when they flew a couple of 1-11's out of Luton to Dublin. My fare then £100 return, which was half the BA / Aer Lingus price. In the last few years, I've probably used them once a month, never paying more than £60 return, many flights have only cost me 1p. If you're flexible on dates and know how to 'play the system' you really can pick up a bargain!0 -
I used to be able to fly stn trn for all in 20 quid return I guess 10 years ago - now (with snowboard etc) the cheapest is about £80 return same as BAI think....0

RyanAir makes the majority of its profits out of extra's and also getting local regional airports to cover the cost of ground services.
Many routes have disappeared this year. So don't bank on them when planning to purchase a holiday home in regional Europe. As you may not always have an easy journey to get there.0 -

Curiously enough, it's not one of my aims in life to become an expert on Ryanair's arcane system. I just like straightforward deals that are not made overly-complex.
I've flown Ryanair to Western Ireland, where they are the only game in town, but if there's any choice I'd go with a different carrier. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Though they've closed lots of routes in and out of Limerick.0 -

Not sure about worst run, it is one of the few airlines in the world that actually make a profit, which is generally considered to be a fair measure of how well a business is run.0
