good Morning all
Have been thinking of applying for the 12 month 0%BT offer on the GE money card, however having read the posts on here have been put off by the amount of people turned down who seem to have great credit history.
I have had a loan with GE money since 2000 and topped it up last year, but they gave me a higher APR due to my credit rating, i have been in arrears on one account (one late payment) 3-years ago but have since been up todate, so think low credit score due to amount of debt
Do you think it is worth applying with my history with the company? and the fact they seem not to be picking people with brill credit history?
Any thoughts welcome
Thanks

Anyone?? who beleives themself to have poor credit rating been accepted
Thanks0 -
I was thinking - maybe if someone has had more than a certain number of credit card accounts in the past few years they are being rejected. Or if the computer picks up on someone settling accounts after a year. That would explain some people with less organised finances (sorry to sound insulting _ dont mean it that way) getting them because chances are they arent switching their accounts around regularly.0

I have been having a tidy up of my cards, (cancelled a Virgin card today).
I only owe £300 on my new Halifax one card which will be paid off when the bill comes.
In all I've cancelled 4 cards in the last 6 weeks, I applied for a GE card and it was refused, I appealed and was still refused, when I had a chat to CS I was told the reason was not my credit score but the fact I had too much available credit.
When I told them that I had cancelled the other cards, I was told that they were still showing as being open on my credit files.
So I will wait a few months and try again......Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -

Just a thought - appeal again and this time enclose copies of the letters those companies sent confirming the account has been closed.0 -

Thanks The Boss, That's exactly what the CS advisor said, he pointed out that if I could show that I had cancelled some of the available credit then they would look at my application again, so I think I will give it a go fingers crossed.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
Yeah, best to do that - mainly because it will save you from another credit search on your file in future. Now you have pinned them down on the issue, by showing that you have reduced your available credit, that should hopefully be enough.0

I have an excellent credit record. I applied for the GE card online, waited a week and heard nothing. Phoned up and and they couldnt find my application. Repeated procedure....Then applied by phone and got accepted straight away and is all going through. Now 2 weeks later have recieved an online application rejection.
Work that one out.

Was accepted on line straight away for this but had to wait 20! days for card to arrive. Acceptance email said 5-7 days. Checked website a week later, said 10-14 days. Had to make purchase on an alternative card so will have to do BT. Will be writing to complain and ask for BT fee back - if card cam when they said it would I could have just bought it on the GE card. As it was put off purchase for 8 days in hope that card would come. Could not wait any longer.0

hmm sounds similar to me...well, a little. I've applied online but not heard anything yet. Phoned CS but they were unable to find any application and offered to do another over the phone which I declined. Think I'll just wait to hear what happens...
Most annoying though, on their online application form, it wouldn't allow me to enter my telephone number correctly. Including my area code, my number is 10 digits but it kept requesting an 11 digit number...had to add a random digit in the end0
