There's at least 3 different categories for dental treatment. Free, NHS and Private.
AFAIK, if you are in receipt of certain benefits you don't pay anything for dental treatment.
For NHS treatment the cost can vary although not by much - that's if you can find a dentist to do this.
For Private the sky's the limit - most people will have some sort of payment plan to cover the costs of treatment. HTH~A mind is a terrible thing to waste on housework~0 -
On the NHS, there are now only 3 charges.
You will pay £15.50, £42.40 or £189, depending on which items are in your treatment.
That is a single fee of that amount nomatter how many items are needed.
So one filling = £42.40, 10 fillings = £42.40.
Most people on most benefits are entitled to free NHS care though, but this will often be a seperate application proceedure to get a specific certificate.
Thereis no state help towards private dental care. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Are you with a private dentist or on the NHS? If you are private then everything is included with your monthly fee - I am with a private dentist and am having to pay £16.50 per month even though I am on Incapacity benefit - they wouldnt reduce it at all because of my benefits!
If you are with the NHS you should get a HC1 form which is an application for help with help with healthcare costs - it may mean depending on your income that you are entitled to help with dental costs, sight tests, wigs etc! You can get a form at your dental surgery or doctors or medcial centres - or request one at:
