AFAIK if the mistake was their fault then they should be liable for the return costs not you. I'm sure someone will be along soon to confirm this. The Daily Mail

There was a very similar complaint to this on this forum a few weeks ago which I'm sure is the same company but I can't find it now. Another poster sent shoes back and was charged £5 for a damaged box too. Hopefully someone will come along and point us in the right direction to the original thread and then you can compare notes. That said, if they sent the wrong size then you shouldn't be liable for any return costs.0

there was, they claimed to have been sent a damaged box. They also claimed that the OP in that case worked for the BBC in the costume department and they had ordered the shoes, worn them to film "waking the dead" and then returned them....
.....because the BBC are obviously quite mean like that.
Anyway, the thread was quite laughable and I believe it was pulled in the end. I directed BBC Lawyers to the company to deal with their amazing claims so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
But yes, Rebellious Footwear are most definitely one to avoid.0 -
I remember now about the BBC stuff but didn't realise the thread got pulled. It was definitely the same story though, the company deducted £5 from the refund for a "damaged box."0

Back in April I too bought boots from Rebellious Footwear-£103 including postage and packaging. The boots were faulty. I sent them back and initially requested a replacement-they're great boots. However, when I e mailed asking about the replacement I was told they didn't know where the boots were. I had sent them back using an address sheet that had been supplied with the boots and they were awaiting collection from the PO. At this point I changed my request from a replacement to a refund. The boots were collected and I again e mailed about my refund. I was told the boots had been collected and I would get my refund once it had been processed. Imagine my surprise when I received an e mail on Wednesday night (16th June) informing me my recent order had been dispatched. I immediately e mailed asking for my refund. More e mails followed. I sent copies of the e mails that indicated a refund would be paid. "Rebellious" replied that if the boots were returned undelivered I would be liable for postage costs. The last e mail said they were passing my "correspondence on to the local police with a view to attempted fraud".
I'm weary of it all. The boots are a present. The person I've bought them for has asked me to collect them-they're waiting at the PO. I hope they're Ok and either way I'll let you know.0 -
I've been sent the wrong size. I originally asked for a UK size 10 and was sent a size 12 with an explanation about the difference between UK and US sizes. They were a perfect fit. The replacements are a size 11.
Does anyone have any advice.0 -
No help to you, but for anyone else, take a photograph of the goods and box that you are returning. Ideally don't use this bunch0

Good advice. I did take a picture of the original fault-not the box though. On trying on the replacement we discovered they were not only a different size-though still a fit but that a buckle was broken. Having contacted Consumer Direct for advice (before collecting the replacement) and fixing the broken buckle I've decided to cut my loses.
I'm not entirely sure who Consumer Direct are or what action if any they take when a complaint is lodged.
Does anyone here know?0 -

Hi There.
I'll have to admit this company wasn't the easiest to get what you want from them. I ordered 2 pairs of shoes from them coming to just over £100. They didn't have either of the shoes in stock and it took a couple of weeks for them to say that they wouldn't be able to get them. I tried calling them, but couldn't find a number anywhere. After sending some e-mails asking them to call me she called (on a private number) and we agreed a replacement for one of the shoes. As the shoes were offered £20 cheaper elsewhere I refused their offer of a £10 refund. I said I'd accept £13 refund to put them down to £30.
They sent out the shoes with the promise they would send the other shoes as soon as soon as they came into stock.
The replacement shoes came through in a slightly warn box and a stud missing on the strap. They wrote on the invoice that they would refund £10, not the £13 I agreed to.
After 1 more e-mail I got a refund for the £10, the extra £3 I agreed to, a full refund on the other shoes I ordered and £5 for the shoes having a stud missing.
Whilst I would not say this was an amazing shop I would say that I feel satisfied with the final outcome. If I was to shop here again I'd sent them an e-mail to make sure they had the shoes in stock before I ordered them...0
