CAMPING (ish) IN ITALY

Has anyone got any suggestions for around the Jesolo area.

Basically myself and the family ( wife and two kids ) have long-standing flights booked into Rome for two weeks at the beginning of July.

Our plan is to hire a car and pootle up the coast towards Venice and spend a few days on one of the sites before heading over to Lake Garda.

I don't really want to stay in a tent and would prefer either a decent cheapo hotel or mobile home with A/C on one of the campsites like Union.

But naturally as an MSEer I don't really want to pay top dollar for it.

Any help for sites ( online and physical ) near Venice and then over by Lake Garda would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

    Thanks,

We visited Lake Garda last year - we stayed at Camping del garda site in Peschiera (pretty little lake side town). The site amazing its about 10 min walk to the train station which takes you straight into Venice and Verona (I wouldnt take the car if visiting these cities).

We stayed in a 2 bed Eurocamp mobile home which was great but I think next time I would book directly with the site as its much much cheaper.

On the site they have 3 swimming pools, 3 childrens park areas, shop, bar and a Pizza restaurant.

The main plus point for me on this park was the fact that you can take a nice leisurly stoll along the lake from the park to Peschiera town centre where there are lots of bars, shops and restaurants. This park is also walking distance from Gardaland theme park.

I would definately visit that Park again - We drove down through France taking our own car which was great driving through the Alps.

Hope you have a great time

Great stuff - that looks absolutely perfect especially the bit about walking to the bars.

All I need now is somewhere up near Jesolo/Venice.

C'mon MSEers - you've never let me down yet.

A nice campsite with an A/C mobile home and a few Germans to have fun with during the latter stages of the World Cup.

I stayed in a campsite in Ca Savio in treporti it is right on the beach. We stayed in Venice for a few nights and then got the boat over to Punta Sabbioni and then got bus to campsite.

We stayed in a mobile home which was good.We travelled into Jesolo For the day think it was about half an hour away. Try Eurocamp, Canvas Holidays or one of they companies they have loads of sites around that area.

Hi, we went a couple of years ago with kids. We stayed by Lake Como through ownersdirect and the second week was by Jesolo and went on a boat to Venice from there, one day in a summer was enough though.
It was called pra` delle torri and I thought it was absolutely fabulous. The park was very good and it had three swimming pools some with slides some entertainment and kids play park in the evening. The best thing was that it was smack on the beech, you walk out of the park and straight on their private beach . They had shops, pizzeria, restaurants and little market nearly every day with fresh fish and fruit. I would love to return, how I loved it there. The only thing is we had a caravan without an aircon, big mistake!! Do pay a bit extra to have one, it is worthy!!
They did have some shalets which looked very good and would be much cooler, so I would ring them direct.
Here is the park ,this is through Siblu, but we got it from some one else a bit cheaper , but can`t remember who it was, sorry.

I stayed at camp sites at Sottomarina and Lido di Jesolo which were excellent, but that was in 1988.

Many thanks for these suggestions, all of which I am checking out.

Given that it's at the beginning of July what about simply turning up on the day and seeing what's available ? Or will places be booked out ?

    Thanks

I personaly would not risk it especialy with children. The parc we went to in Italy was fully booked.

We did once turned up without booking, that was in France ( tent) 3 years ago. We could not find anything for ages, they were all booked up since January. Thankfully it was the French end of season, the last week of August and eventually found one parc to camp, but wouldn`t do it again, too stressfull.

I would book if I was you - you might be able to get some good last min prices even if you book now.

We stayed here as well but booked direct with campsite for about half price of eurocamp. Have a look http://www.casavio.it/en/camping_cavallino
