Which plug adaptor for South Africa

Can anyone tell me if the normal plug adaptors you can buy in the UK will work in south africa - i thought i'd read somewhere that they don't - if not where do a get one that'll work in SA?

When we were in Sun City we could use a UK plug in our hotel room but down in Cape Town we needed an adapter like the one above. Depends what provision there is in your hotel room.0

You can get them from the airport for a fiver.
