Tax credits help please?

Hi
I have received the tax credits annual review notice. We get the basic amount of CTC £545. We used actual figures from our P60's last year and think our joint income from our wages was around £45k. I was on adoption leave for 9 months from the end of Jan 09 to end of Oct 09. I received SAP only for the last 3 months, prior to this the SAP was topped up to my normal wage.
My partners gross income on P60 for 09/10 was approx £40k, and mine was £12k. I have deducted 30 weeks of £100 for SAPfrom my income, which takes us just under the £50k to receive the same amount of tax credits as last year.
Our review form asks if the total income for 09/10 is betweek £24 and £50k, which it is. It then asks if our estimated income is likely to be between £24k and £75k for 10/11. Does that mean we can earn over £50k this year without being overpaid? I think it's very unlikely we would earn a lot more than £50k this year as my salary has reduced due to being part time, but my husband works a lot of overtime(his basic is £27k. I'm really worried about having to pay a lot of money back at the end of the year in a lump sum. Any help would be appreciated thanks

All you can do is give the answers you know. If and when changes occur you can update them. Phone them and discuss the circumstances to ensure you don't end up being over paid.:EasterBun

your claim is an auto renewal so aslong as your 09-10 income was below 50k which you said it was then you dont need to phone up to renew. because of the 25k income disregard you can earn upto 75k this yr before you would incur any overpayment. it is worth updating them with estimated income for this year anyway so that at the end of this tax yr they can work out next yrs award more accurately. no immediate hurry to update those estimates though so you could just do that when it quitens down a bit.0

If all you receive is the Child Tax Credit family element of £545 then your income won't be taken into account. It is worth keeping them up to date though as your circumstances could change at any time.0
