Which phone??

Hello hope this is the right place to ask - I bought a sim free Nokia N79 Christmas time, I've used Nokia's for years and didnt want to change. Also I'm unsure about touch screens, and this had a keypad. The phone is a nice weight and size and has a great piece of software I downloaded for it - and one of the main deciding factors for getting the phone - ovi maps and Sports Tracker.

It records your route, altitute calories time speed etc.

But the phone is buggy and slow....and I've had enough!

So I'm trying to decide - the

HTC Desire or
the Nokia X6

Anyone got any experience of these two phones, especially relating to GPS tracking and a touch screen with chunky fingers!?

In short, go for the Android. You won't regret it. Personally I would go for one with a full keyboard (I own a G1), because it would take me ages to type a SMS or email on a touchscreen. I don't know the HTC Desire, but a lot of people are saying that it is the best phone on the market at the moment. And don't worry about the software you're using on your Nokia at the moment, "there is an app for everything, only on Android"... ;)

I'd definitely go with the HTC Desire and Android. If I remember right the X6 is one of Nokia's more budget phones.

Before you ditch the N97 have you tried upgrading it to the latest version with Nokia software updater? I know that a lot of things have been fixed since Christmas

The X6 certainly isn't a budget phone and is far superior to the Desire.
Android is not a good system.

In what sense is Android not a good system?

I've got a Desire and would recommend it. It's an excellent device. I haven't tried any GPS tracking software on it but I know it's available.

The touch screen works fine with my sausage fingers. The predictive abilities are superb. Techradar rated it as the best touchscreen keyboard available. Not to mention they rated it the besat phone available, although that may change now the iPhone 4 has been announced.

It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

And now? Who is right? What reviews are you talking about? Any links? I'm sure there are people who don't like it, but the majority does.

I bought my G1 1.5 years ago and it was the best thing I bought in a long time. I can install any app I like, not only from the official market. And even the official market is unrestricted, unlike the app store of a well known competitor... ;)
