Somebody has made a payment through Paypal and it's showing as uncleared with a clearance date of 1st September.
If Paypal debits their card straight away what's this uncleared lark all about?

The sender has sent you an e-cheque. The payment status will remain uncleared until the e-cheque clears.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

It's probably not the payer's fault. I once paid through Paypal as usual, or so I thought, but it went through as an "e-cheque" for some unknown reason, and took 10 days to clear. No-one seems to know the purpose of Paypal e-cheques.0

I just paid like this a few weeks ago.My card runs out at the end of the month so it could have been that. Mine took 9 days to clear.0

It's nothing to do with your credit card. an e-cheque is where they take the money from your bank via a direct debit. It's the same as loading your paypal account with money. They take the money from your bank via direct debit and then they eventually credit it to your paypal account. They hold the money for 5 days after it comes out of your bank before sending it on or putting it in your paypal account.0

Well, yes, it can be. If there's a problem with your credit card, it will default to the next possible option, which can be an echeque. So yes, if I was suddenly finding I was paying with echeques, I'd be checking the activity and expiry date on my credit card.My TV is broken!
