help required for mate tracking someone down

Hi

not sure where to start, basically she knows name and where they work, but they have gone missing and basically she suspects he is going around conning people out of money

He works/lives in london, has kids in Nottingham and family in Manchester

anyway she has been seeing him for 8 months and lent him money and her Sat Nav

he has told her lie after lie, like being in car crash hence no money as had to get car repaired so will pay her back later

anyway its all unravled over the last few days and basically she needs to find out a way to prevent this happening to other women.... she suspects he may have a string of people he is conning out of money up and down the country

do any of you good people know of a way to find anything out about him? ie if he is known to do this etc etc

sorry for being a little vague but will fill in blanks as much as I can ....

Well I suppose the police is your first port of call. Secondly search google for his name but knowing what you have said he probably has seveal aliases already

have a look for him on facebook.
he hasn't got loads of tattoos has he?

well have advised her to go to the police incase he is known to them but I doubt if they will do much to help her as it will be a civil matter...

he isn't on facebook as far as I know.... well he claimed he wasn't when they met

not sure about tattoes will ask her.....

now she is saying she is worried as he has threatened her in the past and she is concerned because she has told his work that she is trying to get hold of him as he owes her money..

advised her to ring the police again and log a call with the dometic violence unit if she is at all worried is that the right thing to do?

hun, obtaining money by false pretenses ISNT a civil matter its illegal - this guy is a con-man and sounds like a dangerous one. first port of call is the police!
second is your friends safety - I imagine he is long gone if he suspects he has been sussed. but just in case is there anyone she can stay with for a couple of nights? does he have a key? she needs to safeguard her home too as he will know where valuables are kept.
I dont want to scare you or your friend but you cannot take this lightly - everything he has told her may be a lie. and personally, I would be very careful about my safety from now on if I were your friend.

Well I am not sure where she stands on the money front, he asked her to borrow it for xyz and she lent it to him :-(

He does not have a key to her house, but yes he knows where she lives, although as he lives about 90 mins away I can't really imagine him coming to the house - but you never know I guess.

You just couldn't write this stuff...... unbeliveable that he has stood in front of her and lied about having car crash/working to pay excess back to the company and how its making him depressed as he is working such long hours, none of this turn out to be true.

Saying he is coming to see her and then making up stories about how he got arrested due to the fact his mate was in a fight etc... phone running out of charge... the list just goes on and on and on.....

will call her later today and see if she has contacted the police as I think by letting them know she is scared might alert them should the need arise for her to call them, hopefully this won't happen but you never really know people I guess.... and he has threatened her in the past well not her, but her car....

dipsy - has your friend contacted the police? I know she may feel a bit of an idiot - but they may well know about this guy. he has obtained money from her by lying and this is false pretenses. he may have used the same story before and the police may know this. by comparing stories they may be able to find him. your friend shouldnt feel bad - the best conmen are extremely plausible liars and even the most cynical people can be deceived!
