Prams and prices

Hi I was on here a couple of weeks ago. Asking people about prams and prices. I decided I wanted the Silvercross Surf which I went and had a play with and like alot. Quite small and easy to dismantle downside is it has no bag and only a litlle basket on the bottom big enough for a loaf of bread. However I looked on the Silvercross website and found a list of retailers in my area(north east) I was quoted £585 in the shop but managed to get a retailer down to £520 for the chassis and seat unit, carry cot and essential pack brolly, hood and apron. Im over the moon. Has anybody else heard of any other good deals. Also you can get mothercare codes off the internet so you get 10% off, online if your after the Quinny buzz etc was £315 with code £285.
Loving this site.

I can remember buying our 3 in 1 for our DS. At the time we thought we'd get so much use out of it, but by the time he was six months old he was in a fixed car seat and in a stroller. I wished we hadn't spent so much money on it at the time.0

I love our Silver Cross Sleepover - Dd was in it as a pram until 6 months, and is now in the pushchair mode facing me at 10 months. We also have a Silver Cross pop for going on holiday. I didn;t like the car seat mode though and have only done it once - I'd rather take her out of the car seat personally.
I found that Silver Cross don't allow retailers to discount so they are never very competitive but the quality is excellent and I'm really happy with mine. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

My only piece of advice is to think long and hard about what is the ideal pram/pushchair after the fist 6 months, as it is easy to spend a fortune on something that is ideal for the first 6 months but then switch to a cheaper buggy when you want something lighter/smaller.
We eventually chose a phil and teds, which was a real compromise for under 6 months as no carry cot and not rear facing. However at 18months we are the only ones of our friends still using the original pram, everybody else has switched to a lightweight buggy and the expensive pram they had for the first 6 months is gathering dust in the garage.0 -
Theres a great new website called Pushchair Trader (cant post a link due to being a 'new' member) anyway they have loads of good honest news and reviews as well as rrps and prices of most pushchairs sold in UK, worth a look!
Are you on commission?
Good site though, thanks.:heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0 -
there's also ebay, I bought my silvercross 3d from there for £100 saving me around £200 with 2 rain covers and a parasol, plus the usual accessories.
I know the surf hasn't been out long at all, but still would it be worth a look?0 -
Agree with one of the above posts. Bought a 3 in 1 system for my son and by 6 months he was in a Maclaren buggy. Didn't bother with an expensive pram for my daughter just bought a chassis for her car seat and used that until she was big enough to go in a Maclaren.0
