I found the Qashqai to be quite cramped for the size of car.

I like the kuga but can't justify the price of it (it went up loads over the past 12 months).

I recently test drove the hyundai ix35 and to be honest i'm quite taken with that now.

Do you need a large boot?
Will you be putting a baby seat in the rear?
How tall are your passengers etc
i have very specific needs when choosing a car and the Qashqai suits me

The Nissan IMHO every time. Not that it should make any difference but i think It's done incredibly well on it's NCAP?

Plus I may well be working in a Nissan dealership shortly!!

This link might help. It's a test between the two -

    autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/grouptests/234575/nissan_qashqai_vs_ford_kuga.html#

They conclude that the Ford is better, but bear in mind that they tested the now slightly outdated version.

Since then there has been a revised one that has come out, that looks slightly different and has a better interior.

This review has some news on the revised version -

    carenthusiast.com/reviews/article/4575/-/2010-Nissan-Qashqai/First+drive+-+2.0-litre+petrol+%26+2.0-litre+dCi+Qashqai%2B2.html

Hope this helps a little! Either way, from reading reviews on both, they're both very good cars.

Big price difference between the two cars.
Kuga is a good car but overpriced and CO2 levels are pretty high on the 2 wheel drive and abysmal on the 4 wheel drive.

Nissan starting price much lower and while I felt the 1.5 diesel was underpowered, loads have disagreed with me and said its me being so fat and not the car. Although in fairness a significant minority said it could do with some more ooomph.

I would have a look at the Skoda Yeti. A stupid name but fantastic product. Think it came 4th in car of the year last year and should be on your shortlist.

If your a private buyer I would also consider a second hand X5 as the RV will be better and they are fantastic at what they do.

Would also ask why your looking at one of these cars and compare them to some decent estates. Actual space in most of the small 4x4 is small with the Kuga having less room in it than a Focus. Not surprising as they share the same chassis.
