Thanks for taking it the right way - I nearly deleted the post.

I hate critisizing colleagues, and don't really think I have before on this site.

I don't know his circumstances, I don't know anything about him.

But it's not a way I could ever practice, I value my health and sanity too much!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

[If you had theatre tickets, or an cheapo flight or cinema seats booked for that day (and paid for in advance) would you have expected to get a refund on them??

[The theatre and cinema are unlikely to have been able to sell your seat at short notice ...and as for the cheapo airlines.

[The same can be said for some restaurants, hairdressers, etc.

[Similarly the dentist would not have been paid if you didn't turn up.

    This true.
However, if the thetare starts late, or the flight leaves late, then
    you would expect compensation.
You can't have it both ways....
