Hi : any help on this one please: Tried to access Windows Media Player but get an error message:
C00D1199 Cannot Play the file. Windows Media cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:
1. file type not supported by the Player. For a list of file types (formats) that are supported by WMP see supported file types.
2. The file type is supported by the Player but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the Player.
3. the file type is supported, but you are trying to play it in a way that is not supported by the Player, for example, you might have tried to drag a DVD flile with a .vob extension from a DVD to the WMP icon. Or you might have tried to open a .vob file by clicking open on the file menu.
4. You are trying to play one part of a multipart file. Use a newsreader or other program to combine the files, and then try again.
Error Code = 0xC00D1199, Condition ID = 0x00000000.
What should I do - any ideas????

thanks chaps for your help. I have fiddled about with this problem for hours and I have managed to get the player to work by going on "file" on the toolboar - selecting "open" and chosing a file recommended by Microsoft. However, it has not been possible to set this as a default - Ive tried everything including going on "start" - chosing "set access and program default" - "custom" but it has reverted back to the original setting when I go back to check. At least it works once I have set it manually each time which has got to be an improvement! thanks again.0

to set it as a default do likewise as you have done, only select browse, and click the program from there, at the bottom of the page tick the box "always use this software":A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
