Bees
I am new to this board but not new to the site
-- not sure if anyone can help with this, but I destroyed a bee next by accident this morning - the nest was in a little pile of moss in my tall grass and I strimmed right through it. The bees went mental and in panic I grabbed the hose and doused everything in water. I picked up the hive which was now lying on the floor and threw it into some bushes. The bees have now dried off in the sun and are going mental outside, buzzing around the tall grass
.
Is there anything I can do to discourage them from having a hive in this area -- it's a part of the garden I can't yet afford to "do up" so it's all a bit wild. I don't want them to resettle and use the area again. Can I encourage them towards the bushes instead or is it best to discourage them from the whole garden? I don't have any children so unlikely that anything other than me or dog would go poking around.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

For your immediate problem - angry homeless bees - it's best to light a fire and smoke them away. Your neighbours won't be happy with that, I suppose.

You make the fire with wood and cardboard or charcoal and paper, in a metal coal scuttle (remember them? I bet you can't!
) or something similar. Don't try this at home, children ..... but you need to carry the bucket to the nest site and leave it to smoke for a couple of hours.
They'll soon buzz off and bee-hive themselves (groan!)
To encourage them to use a specific part of the garden, put down a few plastic pots - upside down, sideways and right way up - and cover them with logs, wood and leaves

Thanks -- will try to get this organised asap! There are about 6 - 7 homeless bees that I can see, but they seem more upset than angry right now and are buzzing around their old home. Definitely honey bees and either exhausted by their water ordeal or quite peaceful for now.
I actually feel quite bad that I evicted them, but was not a good location.
Now I can't find the hive in the bushes, either

If they are honey bees ring a local bee keeper and they will take them away.I would like to be a glow-worm.
A glow-worm's never glum.
Its hard to be downhearted when the sun shines out your bum.0 -
Thanks -- have just been given the national bee keeper's assoc number so if the are hanging around tomorrow I will give them a ring and see about having them rehomed!0
