Choose your purchases very carefully - in our local Homebase there have been bags of rotting spuds on the shelves for weeks and the section of the store stinks!
And their raspberry and gooseberry canes looked extremely dead - hardly a bargain at half price!0 -
our local Homebase was the same last week, the stench was unbelievable, and the potatotoes had massive big shoots sprouting out of the bags, not healthy looking(or smellimng) at all.Orange_King wrote: »Choose your purchases very carefully - in our local Homebase there have been bags of rotting spuds on the shelves for weeks and the section of the store stinks!

i'm sorry if i've misled you all that they were a great buy as i didn't actually inspect any myself. :cool:i just noticed this offer and thought if those of you out there were looking for some, presumably, you'd check on their condition first. but for a newbie, i guess this would be very misleading. so make sure that they're not 'too gone' in terms of their 'softness'. they should be slightly shrunken and a bit 'wrinkly' (not shrivelled!) and that the shoots are not too long (ideally, 1" inch)0

They have been like this for weeks, choose the best ones.Kind Regards
