I wrote earlier in this thread.
I have now recieved my £2 credit file from equifax. As i thought my iva has disappeared and no trace. It is only showing my current cc that is running well and my van loan of 12 k.
I have just moved 3 months ago and lived at my last address 8 years.why am i being declined ? all looks good and i can only think it is because i have moved and am not on the vr yet but then they can see i was at my last address all that time can they not ?
Thanks Mike
Trevor
Trev.. The VR could be the one and only reason..
Have you many searches on your file. Dont forget if you have had a debt on the past with the lender or the group they are in, then they will take a long time to 'forgive' so that also could be the reason.

thanks so much for that info mike, you're a diamond!0

Thanks Mike.
I thought that when you fill the form online and it realises you have just moved ,it would use the information that is requested about previous addresses. Is this not true ?

Mike_St_Helens wrote:Hi there... The defaults on your file will certainly hinder you getting a highstreet mortgage im afraid...
How much were they, what for and when were they settled...
Those are the issues you will have. Try IF... They were always good, quite aggressive in positive lending.
Mike
I've managed to lock myself out of my experian file as i entered the password incorrectlyI will ring them tommorow to re-set it.
But off the top of my head there were about 5, all amounts under £400/350 from my student days. Most were settled in 2002/3/4. But 1 was settled this year
I do have my current mobile contract/barclaycard showing as missing no payments at all.
Are the non high street lenders worth looking at? I always assumed the interest charged would be extortionate. Would it be better for me to just wait until they are gone?

Mike_St_Helens wrote:Hitya dixie... im sorry buit a lender can default after not making more than one consecutive payment... also it sounds like if the court were involved have you a CCJ? If so, default is a legal necessety before the next collection stage.
Sorry abt that one !
Mike
Hi ya, no I never got a CCJ they just registered a default, I was waiting for a court date but my re-mortgage came thru in time. Can they have registered a default without having served me a defualt notice as I am positive a never got one?? Thanks for your helpRemember ....its not a bargain unless you need it0 -
Mike_St_Helens wrote:Well... 1st your account will be looked at so as long as you pay more than min, dont take out a lot of cash out and dont have fees... then you should pass thet one ok.
Your file will then be looked at, as long as that is clean, you have a moderated debt to income and havnt a load of cr4p on your file, you should be OK.
Each lender is VV different, some rely on score alone, which I personally think is VV unfair.
Please ask if you want to know anything else
Mike
Thanks.
Any idea how long they look back? I year ago I had a £6000 limit on my MBNA card but reduced it down to £2000. In february I increased that to £3000 and now am looking at increasing again to £4000 +. What is the maximum increase you should ask for?0 -
Mike_St_Helens wrote:You have hit the nail on the head.
All applications that carry CIFAS warnings would be reviewed. Dont worry about being reffered, it could also be anything from a miskey in spelling that doesnt match your file, a diff date of birth on another account you have ... anything can make it refer, Please dont worry
Let me know how you get on
Mike
UPDATE
thanks for your advice/assurance
got a phone call this morning from the bank and they asked me a few questions.
1) confirm lenth of time i'd been at my current address (was over 6 years)
2) and some linked addressess which I did not recogise.
they asked me to sent some id in that it.
so all Ok - thanks m80 -
This is handy - thanks for starting the thread.
I had a lousy period which meant my credit rating was shot for ages. I have now cleared all the nasty stuff (CCJ and several defaults).
However, I have one nasty that is still being a stubborn pain - ironically it's a debt I paid in full.
The loan was for £7056 paid at £120 pcm. My payment history is:-
0 0 0 0 1 1 2 2 0 1 1 1 0 0 1 2 3 3 3 4 4 4 S
There was no default, the start date was 12-9-00 satisfied date 5-7-02.
Am I going to be saddled with this until July 2008? And does it make a major impact on my options over the next couple of years? I have a mortgage, 2 mobile contracts, credit card account all running well and 7 years at current address.
Thanks.0 -
hi mike,
when declaring yourself bankrupt does the O.R pick through your bank statemnets as since coming to my senses about my money situation i no longer pay with my card or cheques i keep going to the bank and withdrawing all the cash and paying things off but will that look odd? its just that if they pick through and think oh yeah wheres all this going what then? should i keep a diary of my expenditure?
