Car Insurance Renewal - up 70% !!!!!

Hi, newbie here but needed a forum to vent my rage
Just had my car insurance renewal, and as usual it was a bit higher than my premium last year. Gone from £191 to £343 !!! About a 70% jump.
Did the usual hunting round online but the best I could get it down to was £300!
How the hell can I become so much of an insurance risk, even tho I am in the same house/job/marriage and now have a child!!
AGGHHH
Rant over :rotfl:

Cost of insurance has gone up. Not as much as that but was last year the first policy year with that insurer? If so, you have probably lost first year discount and had an increase as well on top. First year discounting doesnt seem to be as much as it was over the last few years.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It always pays to have a few new quotes about a month before the insurance is due.
Gone are the days when it paid to be loyal.
Shop arround and you will often get a bargain to lure you in.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Some insurers ask if you have any children, if so it's considered more of a risk as your more likely to look over your shoulder to check on them.... daft but... true!0

This is similar to what's happened to me this year...
Despite no claims/points in the last year my cheapest quote has increased from £430 to £550. I'm obviously disgruntled about this, since I have never made a claim or had any crash  So every year i'm just giving them free money (usually decreasing year-on-year).
Someone at work who I talked to recently has the same problem with their car insurance going up for no reason. All I can presume is that we're all being stung because of all the floods etc that the insurance companies have had to pay out on in the last year? But it's almost like their price-fixing because surely they can't all have been severely exposed?0 -
Weve been trying to get insurance for my son since he passed his test in February - Cheapest quote is nearly £3000! and the dearest ... wait for it.... £22,000!!!! This is for a car that is worth 500.
Apparently there has been a raft of claims over the winter period for our postcode area - most of them bogus! and its boosted everyones claims in our area - my own insurance went from £30 pmth to £90! and that was the cheapest I could get.0 -

How do you know they are bogus?
It snowed in most of the country this winter so there where many more accidents due to cars sliding on ice into people, other cars and property. Plus some parts of the country faced floods as well. These are two reasons why the cost of insurance has risen.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
